Graph Skill Builders are Getting a Major Upgrade
We’ve been busy!
What was formerly known as Data Analysis Progression has officially been renamed Graph Skill Builders. Why? Because “Graph Skill Builders” actually tells teachers what it does.
But the new name isn’t the only change.
We’ve added a collection of new graphing activities built around real science data, including:
- Orbital Period vs. Distance from the Sun
- Density of Earth’s Layers
- Air Quality Index
- Water Quality Testing
- Bacteria Growth Curves
- Heart Rate Comparisons
- Density of Metals
Each Graph Skill Builder is designed to help students build graphing confidence step-by-step. Activities begin with a Gradual Graph Reveal, followed by auto-graded question sets that increase in difficulty. Students then apply their learning through Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) writing activities.
We’re also expanding the collection with:
- Printable graphing worksheets
- Career Connections
- Additional auto-grading activities
- More real-world science data sets
Many of the printable activities allow students to focus on graph interpretation and analysis by providing pre-scaled and labeled axes. Students plot data, complete graph titles and labels, and answer increasingly challenging questions based on their graphs.
Our goal is ambitious: to build Graph Skill Builders covering all major science topics using authentic science data that helps students develop the graphing and data analysis skills scientists use every day.
And we’re just getting started.
More Graph Skill Builders are already in development, so be sure to check back often.
