Virtual Science Teachers – Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Virtual Science Teachers website at https://www.virtualscienceteachers.org, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
These Terms apply to the Virtual Science Teachers public website and the resources made available through it.
2. Purpose of the Website
Virtual Science Teachers (“VST,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides educational science resources designed to support classroom instruction and scientific literacy.
All original content on this website is protected by copyright unless otherwise noted.

All original materials created by VST, including but not limited to:
- Interactive tools and simulations
- Lesson structures and learning activities
- Worksheets and printable materials
- Text, graphics, and instructional content
- Platform architecture and technical systems
are the intellectual property of Virtual Science Teachers and are protected under U.S. and international copyright law.
4. Permitted Educational Use
Teachers, schools, and educational organizations may:
- Use VST resources in classroom instruction
- Share materials directly with enrolled students
- Display or project materials during lessons
- Link to VST resources from school or district platforms
Use must remain for educational purposes and may not involve redistribution, resale, republication, or commercial exploitation.
5. Prohibited Uses
Without prior written permission, users may not:
- Sell or resell VST materials
- Upload VST content to paid platforms or subscription services
- Bundle VST materials into paid courses, products, or training programs
- Modify and redistribute VST materials as original work
- Extract, copy, reverse engineer, or replicate interactive tools, simulations, or proprietary systems
- Rebrand or present VST content as your own

6. Third-Party Content and Embedded Services
Some VST resources include embedded or linked third-party content used to support instruction. Examples may include:
- PhET Interactive Simulations
- External datasets or graphs
- Canva, Genially, or similar platforms
Third-party materials retain their original licenses and terms of use and are not owned or licensed by VST unless expressly stated.
Embedded third-party media assets are provided for instructional use within the VST website and may not be downloaded, extracted, or redistributed separately unless the applicable third-party license allows it.
VST is not responsible for the licensing, privacy practices, or data handling policies of third-party platforms.
7. Privacy and Data Practices
Virtual Science Teachers collects limited information as described in our Privacy Policy. This may include information submitted through website forms, email inquiries, newsletter subscriptions, resource requests, event registrations, or donations.
Our website forms and email subscription forms are intended for adults, including teachers, parents, homeschool educators, school administrators, district leaders, nonprofit partners, and other education decision-makers. They are not intended for children or students under 18.
VST may use third-party service providers, including Mailchimp for newsletters, email subscriptions, website forms, and contact management, and Zeffy for donations or event registrations.
VST:
- Does not require student accounts through the public website
- Does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the public website
- Does not sell personal information
- Does not use advertising networks for student profiling or behavioral advertising
- Uses limited technical information to operate, secure, and improve the website

8. Donations and Financial Transactions
Donations are processed securely through Zeffy, a third-party fundraising platform.
VST does not store or process payment card information.
By donating, you agree to Zeffy’s terms and privacy policy. VST is not responsible for third-party payment processor data practices.
9. Newsletters and Email Communications
If you choose to subscribe to VST newsletters, resource updates, or other email communications, you agree that VST may use the information you provide to send those communications.
VST uses Mailchimp to manage email subscriptions, contact lists, newsletter delivery, and related contact management. You may unsubscribe from VST newsletter or marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in those emails or by contacting admin@virtualscienceteachers.com.
VST may still send non-marketing messages when appropriate, such as responses to direct inquiries, donation confirmations, event logistics, or other administrative communications.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The VST website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.”
VST makes no warranties regarding accuracy, completeness, uninterrupted access, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability of any website resource.
VST is not liable for technical issues, errors, omissions, third-party service interruptions, or outcomes resulting from use of the website or content.
Use of the website is at your own risk.
11. Modifications to Website or Terms
Virtual Science Teachers may update or modify these Terms of Use at any time.
Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
