- Watersheds: A watershed is the land area that drains into a body of water.
- Virginia watershed systems: Water that falls on Virginia land can flow to the Chesapeake Bay, North Carolina sounds, or the Gulf of America.
- Chesapeake Bay: The Chesapeake Bay is an estuary where fresh water and salt water mix.
- Watershed health: Natural processes, human activities, living things, and nonliving factors affect water quality and habitats.
- Water-quality evidence: pH, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and macroinvertebrates can provide clues about watershed health.
